A Singapore-based private educational initiative with the aim of promoting reflective learning as a habit of learning among science learners.
This site is created to share information on International, STEM and Science Education Projects/Events involving Dr Tan Kok Siang. Visitors to this site are not obliged to engage his professional services, paid or unpaid. However, they are most welcome to learn about Reflective Learning, STEM and Science Education.
A.I.R.Cube stands for "Agility, Innovation & Resolve" with "Resolve" encompassing three affective aspects of learning, namely, "Reflect, Recovery, & Resilience". The aim of the programme is to help students in acquiring, refining, and internalizing learning and thinking habits and skills that are conducive to 21st Century and Industry 4.0 work-life contexts.
The A.I.R..Cube Enrichment program offers abundant opportunities for students to acquire both divergent and convergent hands-on and minds-on skills. Through science-related activities, students are encouraged to engage in innovative learning and develop creative and critical thinking abilities using ordinary everyday materials and objects.
Science examiners are professionals who possess thoughtfulness, innovation, and evaluative skills. They are discerning experts who design assessment assignments to evaluate students' readiness for further learning. In this program, students will assume the role of examiners and enrich their understanding of science (including STEM) by using actual exam tasks as references for exploring alternative tasks and solutions, or as resources to engage in mini science projects with innovation and purpose.

This Websharing introduces key considerations in the assessment of student learning and achievement in school science. It traces shifts in classroom and national examination practices in Singapore, shaped by evolving societal and industry needs. The session examines how these changes impact assessment administration, expectations for authentic performance, and the role of assessment in preparing students for the future of work. Participants will gain insights into the core purposes of science assessment, its influence on student motivation, and emerging stakeholder expectations.
